“French Broad to Downtown, late summer 2019”
My Asheville Cityscape design was painted in 6 individual watercolor layers. The scene is whimsical, but accurate – and represents a view from the French Broad north to the city’s downtown.
You’ll recognize the Pinball museum, the St. Lawrence Basilica, the Grove Arcade, the Woolworth Building, the Kress Building, Jack of the Wood, Pack Square, Pritchard Park (with the chess tables!), the double decker bus coffee shop, the Orange Peel, the Grey Eagle, the Wedge Building and the small iconic bicycle riding across the river to the New Belgium Brewery.
The 3D version is part reproduction, part original work and is created from 6 layers of archival giclée prints of my original paintings. Each is hand-cut and hand-assembled for a 3-dimensional effect.
